This Weekend: Ferndale Rep’s “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast”
Looking for the perfect way to kick off summer before schedules start getting crazy-busy? Our recommendation: Get yourself (and the whole family) to the Ferndale Repertory Theatre, stat!
Ferndale Rep’s production of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” is the smash hit of the season and talk of the North Coast – and is on track for selling out soon. If you’ve never experienced the magic of seeing a play at the Rep, the familiar story and all-ages appeal combined with whimsical costumes and charismatic cast make “Beauty and the Beast” the perfect introductory show. The Mad River Union calls it “a show with a lot of heart and a ton of magic...a little slice of Broadway in our backyard” and the Ferndale Enterprise says to “drop everything” and reserve tickets today.
Based on the Academy-Award winning animated feature, the stage version includes songs by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, as well as new songs by Menken and Tim Rice. The original Broadway production of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” ran for more than 13 years and was nominated for nine Tony awards, including Best Musical.
There are just two weekends left to catch a showing of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” which runs through June 4. Showtimes are Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday at 2pm.
Make a day or evening of it and arrive in Ferndale early to browse shops on Main Street, explore the historic cemetery and Ferndale Museum, and grab lunch at one of our cafes and bakeries or dinner at VI Restaurant, The Ivanhoe, Ferndale Pizza Company or Farmhouse on Main. Once at Ferndale Repertory Theatre, enjoy classic candies, popcorn, and local beer or wine.
After “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” the Rep takes its annual summer break to host its youth musical theater workshop and prepare for next season, which opens in September with “Little Shop of Horrors.”
Reserve your tickets at FerndaleRep.org.
