Lighting of America’s Tallest Living Christmas Tree

  • 100 Berding St Ferndale, CA 95536 (map)

Revel in holiday magic at the lighting of Ferndale's spectacular living Christmas tree, the tallest in America! Decked with colored lights by Ferndale's volunteer firefighters, the radiant spruce at the end of Main Street is visible for miles, a beacon to herald the Christmas season.

Experience small-town Americana at its best as the whole town turns out in anticipation of the lighting, a Ferndale tradition since 1934 (2024 marks the 90th year—the tree was dark for four years during WWII).

Free hot cocoa will be available at stations throughout the lighting area, and wrapped homemade cookies of all kinds will be passed out to attendees.

Arrive early for holiday shopping on historic Main Street and dinner at one of Ferndale's top-rated restaurants, or head over to the Ferndale Portuguese Hall Association for the annual Beans & Linguica Dinner from 4-7 p.m.

Ceremony starts promptly at 5:30 p.m.

Location: End of Francis Street (intersection of Francis & Berding) at the city Public Works barn.
