Celebrate the completion of Ferndale's long-awaited new footbridge, the "Children's Bridge," with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:30pm on Friday, Dec. 1, followed by Ferndale Hospitality Night. Funded by donations and grants and built by volunteers, the bridge spans Francis Creek at the end of Francis Street and provides children and others a pedestrian-friendly route to Firemen's Park. Ferndale Mayor Don Hindley will preside over the ceremony, with opening remarks by project leader Martin Tubb and bridge committee member Dick Hooley. Children from Ferndale Elementary School will be the first to cross the new bridge.
