This fall the sleepy Victorian Village of Ferndale in Northern California will once again be transformed to the vampire infested New England town of Salem’s Lot: “The Ultimate in Terror!” Immerse yourself in the gem that is Ferndale; the culture of authentic small town Americana that is a daily living set and a backdrop for dreams.
The film was Stephen King’s first novel to be turned into a movie in what the author says is “one of the best horror films that has ever been made for television.” The movie, which premiered in November of 1979 on CBS, has gained a cult following for its campiness and it’s spookiness – it truly is one of the most frightening pieces to air on network TV.
The Ferndale Chamber of Commerce invites you to the 40th anniversary celebration of the film, which will take place on October 18 & 19, 2019. Screenings will take place at The Old Steeple next to the historic and beautiful Ferndale Cemetery. There will also be guided and self-guided tours of filming locations organized by the Ferndale Museum. Other aspects of this fun event are currently in the planning stages.
