See an historic quilt show at Stitch
Fern Cottage Historic District is sharing its collection of handcrafted antique quilts at Stitch this Friday, June 9 from 11am to 4pm. View nearly two-dozen pre-1940 quilts along with other quilt pieces and textiles made at Fern Cottage, the historic home of pioneers Joseph and Zipporah Russ, at this special one-day-only encore showing before they are carefully packed away into the archives.
Fill up at the Ferndale Boy Scouts Countdown to Summer BBQ
Enjoy a full dinner featuring pit barbecue beef from Ferndale Meat Company at Ferndale Boy Scouts of America Troop 8’s annual fundraiser from 5-7:30pm on Saturday, June 10 at Ferndale Veterans Memorial Building, 1100 Main St. Proceeds help send the scouts to summer camp. $12 adults/$8 kids 12 & younger. Meet local artists at North Coast Open Studios
Meet Ferndale artists and see what happens inside their creative spaces – from painting to pottery and from jewelry creation to the crafting of traditional skin-on-frame kayaks – during the last weekend of North Coast Open Studios, Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11 from 10am to 5pm. Participating studios include Ashley Rose Designs (jewelry and acrylic paintings), Ferndale Arts Gallery (cooperative gallery featuring top regional artists working in a wide variety of mediums), Mark Hamor Studio (acrylic paintings), Bruce Keller (sculptor working with stone tools), Lois Keller of Ferndale Arts Gallery (ceramics, clay jewelry and sculpture), Sandra Mesman of The Pearly Gait (handcrafted pearl jewelry), Mind’s Eye Manufactory (collective art space and maker school), Roberta Raye (mixed media and jewelry), Alice Shaw of Gathered Handmade (acrylic and watercolor paintings), and Yesterday’s Best (vintage-inspired greeting cards, wall hangings and pendants).
Laugh it up at Ferndale Rep's Comedy Night
Round up your friends for a night of sidesplitting laughter as local comedians take the stage at Ferndale Repertory Theatre's “Comedy at the Ferndale!” this Saturday at 8pm. Host Josh Barnes, co-host of the podcast, “The Barnes and Cole Effect” on Savage Henry Magazine Radio Network, will be joined by Humboldt County locals Will Toblerone and Evan Vest (host of the podcasts “Paranoid Celluloid” and “Bud Time” on Savage Henry Magazine Radio Network) and Seth Milstein (who appears in the documentaries "I Am Road Comic" and “Harmontown”) of Eugene, Oregon. Treat the family to big (and loud) fun at a Monster Truck show
For the first time ever, Monster Trucks are invading the Humboldt County Fairgrounds. See these 10,000-pound car-crushing giants compete in racing, wheelie contests, and freestyle action during the TRAXXAS Monster Truck Destruction Tour this Friday, June 9th and Saturday, June 10th. Meet the drivers and see the trucks up close during the pre-event Autograph Pit Party from 6-7pm then take a seat to enjoy the main event at 7:30pm.
